History
It all started with the company’s desire to work with values and to have the opportunity to share them with the teams,
while erasing the notion of producing for money. We wanted to put forward the respectful values of the teams, of the
planet, of biodiversity, and to embark on a project that checks all the boxes. The bonobos in the DRC are the last ones on
earth, and we were already donating sugar to them via Compagnie Sucrière. We then had the desire to partner with the
association Lola Ya Bonobo; which was a great way to add value to the Kwilu Rhum brand. Thus, a percentage of the
profits is donated to the association to help preserve the habitat of these very human-like mammals that are found only
in the DRC. Satisfied with this wonderful and noble project, we worked together on the creation of a new bottle.

Production
In the case of Kwilu Rhum:
Step 1: Molasses – We first dilute the molasses with water, as it is too concentrated in sugar to be fermented.
Step 2: Fermentation – We then add yeast(halal & kosher certified) to obtain the alcoholic drink. The fermentation process
is the transformation of sugar into alcohol and aroma. It also produces carbon dioxide that can be collected.
Step 3: Distillation – The distillation columns usually consist of two or four columns, each one feeding the next. The
process has different levels of concentration, through which the steam circulates. This technique enables the rum’s
aromatic profile to be monitored and controlled.
